Wheels: Honda Cub, Could I be yo’ mama?

honda_cub, originally uploaded by jil_tv.

The Honda Cub is the cutest vehicle on two wheels. A concept bike designed remind me what I am missing in my life. I got one quick question for Honda--when can you bring this out? Imagine replacing your vintage Vespa for one of these puppies, swishing through traffic, pissing of people in their compact cars. Or maybe keeping your Vespa and having a Cub to make you smile. I guess it doesn’t matter until I can get Honda on the horn and convince them that the cub should go into productions no matter the overhead, or international regulations hiccups. It might sound a bit over the top but nobody treats my baby that way.

Tech-style:Nokia N93

nokia n93, originally uploaded by jil_tv.

I must admit I was one of those people who were skeptical when the video phone came out. I remembered thinking when would someone talk on the phone and out of the blue decide to they just had to take a picture of something. I saw the commercials and I wasn’t biting, and now I can’t imagine where it has been all my life.

Taking the trend to another level is Nokia’s N93 video phone. I don’t believe there is a naysayer on this one. Digital photography has been in grained into the cells at this point, and now all we want is more mega pixels and of course multimedia is a bonus. With this phone it is possible to have all that and yet it fits into your Friday night clutch. I am really not a tech junkie, so if that is what you seek, you can check their website for more information. But it is cute, it swivels, and for the price you pay for the phone it should make you a cappuccino--but it doesn’t. What you will have is the ability to take a video of all your random yet special moments. I think that is just priceless.

Decor: Fur & Furniture…

furniture-luxe, originally uploaded by jil_tv.

When I think of fur and furniture, I think of a mink throw on a bachelor’s bed. Very Vegas, and as we know what happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas or we run the risk of being a tasteless nation. But Shimna’s Caribou collection gets it right. The mixture of sleek and simple with fur accents makes this New York based furniture collection appropriate and stylish.

The focal point of the collection is a chair, built by hand, and available in a handful of woods and finishes. Shimna, a company that focuses on corporate and residential clients, hits the mark with its simply chic approach to design. And with a touch of leather and a hint of fur, it is all the luxury one could ask for. More info can be found at their website at www.shimna.net

Style: Haute Airs

natan, originally uploaded by jil_tv.

When looking for a luxurious fashion designer in the Benelux region, I came across Edouard Vermeulen. The thing that strikes you when you see one of his massive creations is they love their fabric-- they incorporates layer upon layer of sumptuous materials in every design.

Natan is one of the truest definitions of Couture I’ve come across in Belgium, whose designs could stand proudly against any Parisian house. Started in the 1930’s, Natan was taken over by Edouard Vermeulen in 1983, and since then their ‘haute couture’ collection has redefined Belgian opulence. They also have a ready-to-wear collection, but their signature of sumptuousness is embodied in their upscale version that is so ‘haute’ it should really have its own accent.

Natan’s couture collection can be found at their flagship store located in Brussels, Belgium, while their Pret a porter collection is sprinkled through out Belgium and Paris. More information is available at www.natan.be.

Style: Through the Eye of the Bag Holder

stori, originally uploaded by jil_tv.

Stori’s Spring/Summer 2007 collection is a journey through subliminal luxury. Not as overstated as other luxury accessories company’s-- no gaudy logos that you can see from miles away-- Stori’s luxury is in the details. New skins like fish and kangaroo, accents like mother of pearl and resin detail-- all cooked up to give you quirky and surprising, multi-functional luxury. And if you think all of that is a mouthful, wait until you see the intricate thought process that takes a well made bag, from the depths of a designer's subconscious, into any diva’s reality. Beauty: Metallic Zinger

zingByZing, originally uploaded by andyliucn.

What do you get when you take the Technicolor of the wizard of oz add the computer craze of the 80’s and add a pinch of the digital age of the new millennium? Depends, if you are talking cosmetics, then you are talking Zing by Zing. Although the name is repetitive the artist named Zing originally from Singapore made his move to Hong Kong and created a ruckus. His portfolio includes a handful of celebrities from Asia, but his work was represented in Singapore’s showcase in London.

What can we take from his unique style? Creativity, levity and throwing your make-up style book out of the window. He uses reds where most don’t and could care less about matching complexions. Instead he uses the face as a canvas and features as parts of his palette. I am not sure how to export him to a town near you , but I am pretty sure with a little bit of creativity you will think of something.

Decor: Starry Nights…

Annette Hinterwirth, originally uploaded by jil_tv.

Old school Hollywood glamour has been reincarnated into the form of light fixtures. Annette Hinterwirth a company that made a name for itself by dabbling in nostalgia-- came out with a collection of light fixtures that would make Grace Kelly stop in awe. But they are just mimicking something done by the fashion industry for ages and making it home fashionable. WalljewelsTM is an example of this. If it was offered in a miniature version (minus the light)-- someone somewhere would affix it to their lapel and call it vintage. But why not incorporate glamour into your room? In a world where we are tabloid obsessed, this star gazing hurts absolutely no one.

Decor: That’s Tiffany’s ‘Daahling

tiffany, originally uploaded by jil_tv.

One couldn’t talk about all that is luxurious with out bringing up Tiffany’s. The little blue box has been brightening the eyes of brides-to-be since they came out movie starring Audrey Hepburn. So it is not a surprise that their line of decorative accessories reads like jewelry for your furniture.

Not bejeweled, but oh so exquisite is their Elsa Peretti® Thumb Print bowl. Their attempt to be kitsch – by placing an awkward dip in the bowls mouth—has failed miserably. This number comes in various sizes, and you can pick either sterling silver or Venetian blown glass. But who cares? At the end of the day it makes the statement… “oh that’s Tiffany’s daahling’
